MINI TOOLING
Mini uses the Mini TIS for factory service information. This includes diagnostic troubleshooting guides as well as technical specifications. Our tooling allows us to interact with Mini vehicles and monitor the onboard systems so that we can verify the vehicle is operating as desired. If we notice any abnormalities, we can make the adjustments or repairs necessary to return the vehicle to "fresh-off-the-line" performance.
COMMON ISSUES
A common issue that affects Mini vehicles is carbon build-up on the intake valves. Over time impurities in gasoline and byproducts of combustion become deposited on the metal surfaces of the engine. Exhaust valves and cylinder walls are protected by the intense heat of combustion but intake valves are susceptible to a carbon or even sludge build-up. This build-up will affect efficiency and driveability. Several things can be done preventatively such as using Top Tier and/or premium fuel. Intake cleaning services can be performed but these are usually more effective by means of mist rather than additives in the gas tank. When build-up has already occurred, the best solution is disassembly and blasting with walnut shells. Discovery Automotive is equipped to handle any GDI issues your Mini might have. When
