Volvo uses the VIDA information system for factory service information. This includes diagnostic troubleshooting guides as well as technical specifications. Our tooling allows us to interact with Volvo vehicles and monitor the onboard systems so that we can verify the vehicle is operating as desired. If we notice any abnormalities, we can make the adjustments or repairs necessary to return the vehicle to "fresh-off-the-line" performance.
COMMON ISSUES
Volvo identified an issue with an o-ring coming off of the cylinder head that leaks coolant. This issue was traced back to poor-quality materials used in the o-ring manufacturing process and is common on Volvo models with the Si6 engine (short inline 6-cylinder). The corrective service is to replace the hose that is leaking. If the hose is not replaced a low coolant scenario can occur which raises the likelihood of overheating and severe engine damage. If a major top-end repair has been made to a Volvo, we can look to see if this hose has been replaced and if the oil and coolant systems were cleaned appropriately.
